If you are starting a side hustle to make an extra $500 to $1000 a month, it might not seem possible right now.
So lets get started with my three favorite online side hustle ideas that have the potential to be highly profitable.
1. Blogging
I love blogging! I’m a writer at heart and I love to get my thoughts out of my head and published. It’s very therapeutic.
Here’s the downside (but one that is overcome with time): You will not see an immediate return on investment with blogging, but you will once you get traction and traffic to your blog from search engines and social media!
So how do you get the traffic you need?
First, who do you want to talk to, work with, or appeal to? Fellow teachers? Parents? Others with similar hobbies as yours? Mothers like yourself?
Figure out your target market before you get started. I’m telling you straight up from personal experience, don’t even think about starting a blog until you have a plan for what you want to accomplish.
Yes, you can get started and fix things later, but your “fixes” might affect the branding you chose, social media platforms you’ve been using, and you might end up having to chuck all the work you have already put into a blog because the market you now want to serve won’t relate to the current blog content.
So start out the right way with a known target market, and end up the profitable way!
Here are three FREE blogging options from Blogging Her Way to get you started (that also worked for me so much so that I became an affiliate partner):
Blogging Bootcamp: This is a free course that will give you a compete roadmap to starting an growing a money making blog, with no experience required.
First Month Blogging Plan: This free course is a checklist of items you need to do each day during your first month of blogging.
I really liked this one ( and not because it was free) because I needed a plan that allowed me to focus on one task each day. Helped me curb my habit to try and do everything at once.
Blogging Niche Ideas: This is a wonderful list she’s put together with 150 ideas that will help you decide what to blog about.
All of these are free options, so make sure you check them out.
Her blog is also FULL of helpful ideas and tips that she has learned from blogging for many years and she has made a very nice living from her blogging business.
2. Sell information products
Selling eCourses and eBooks is easy to create yourself or you can outsource it to freelancers who can write faster and better than you.
You can use Upwork and Freelancer to find other side hustlers willing to provide the services you need.
Now here’s an alternative for you:
PLR products that you can resell as your own – without having to create them yourself!
I have used reseller packs from Niche Raiders (another affiliate partner) and her products WILL save you a lot of time by eliminating the work involved in CREATING a course or an ebook.
Please don’t reinvent the wheel!
If you can use PLR content to grow your blog, do it! You can make any changes you need, tweak it so it works for your niche, and spend your free time working on other revenue producing projects for your blog.
3. Freelance work
If you’re interested in freelancing online – like writing, designing, building apps and websites, etc. – then YOU should join sites like Upwork, Fiverr, and Freelancer.
These are GLOBAL marketplaces, so you will have a lot of competition form all over the world.
So how do you set yourself apart?
If you want to set yourself apart from the competition and you’re extremely confident in your skills, then don’t be afraid to bid rates you know you deserve.
Make sure vendors know that you are no ordinary entrepreneur – you are a certified teacher with experience proofreading, writing, instructing, and creating curriculum – so you are automatically given more respect and a higher chance of being chosen for their project.
It works – trust me!
I’m currently researching vendors that offer tips and advice on how to successfully pursue the freelancer market, so stay tuned for updates to this blog post.
